Terms of Service

By accessing or using Oteria (“the Service”), operated by Graybridge Labs (“we”, “us”, “our”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

Oteria is an AI-powered scene partner for actors. The Service allows you to paste or upload scripts, assign AI voices to characters, and rehearse dialogue using voice recognition and text-to-speech technology. The Service also includes a prose reader for listening to written content read aloud.

Oteria is a script and line-rehearsal tool, not an open-ended conversational AI service. It does not provide personal or professional advice.

The Service uses third-party providers including ElevenLabs (voice generation) and Anthropic (AI script cleanup and photo OCR). Your use of the Service is also subject to those providers’ terms.

Approved users may sign in with email and password or Google. Password setup and recovery links are provided to approved email addresses during private access; routine sign-in does not require an email link. Keep your password and setup links private. We store only a salted password hash, not your plain-text password. If you choose Google, you authorize us to receive your name and verified email address to create and maintain your account. Creating a password does not itself grant or extend access to Oteria.

You are responsible for the activity on your account. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately.

You must be at least 13 years old to use Oteria. If you are aged 13 to 17, you must have your parent’s or legal guardian’s consent before requesting access or using the Service. By requesting access or using Oteria, you confirm that you meet these requirements. Oteria is not available to children under 13. Any stricter age or consent requirements under applicable law or third-party provider terms still apply.

Oteria is currently available by invitation only. We review each request individually; approval is not guaranteed. Access is temporary, granted at our discretion, and may be withdrawn.

New subscriptions and payments are currently paused. Private access is granted by invitation after review, without a subscription or payment. Submitting a request or signing in does not automatically grant access. The billing provisions below apply to existing subscriptions and paid plans where offered.

Approval does not guarantee ongoing access. We may limit, suspend or end private access if service availability or capacity changes, the private-access programme ends, or these Terms are breached. We will normally give reasonable notice, but may act immediately for security, abuse prevention or legal reasons. This does not affect your statutory rights.

Free trials, where offered, run for 3 days, are limited to one per person, and include a trial voice-generation allowance of 15,000 text characters for Oteria’s included voices and 100 script-preparation credits. Abuse of the trial system (including creating multiple accounts) may result in account suspension.

Oteria’s included voice generation and script-preparation features, including private access, are subject to fair-use limits shown in your account. Script-preparation credits cover importing script photos, script cleanup, and delivery directions, weighted by request type and size. Replays of already-generated audio do not count against those limits. Voice generation through your own connected ElevenLabs key is governed by your ElevenLabs plan and account limits.

In private groups, the educator may invite students, assign scenes and withdraw access within that group. Managed student accounts are limited to assigned scenes and cannot upload their own scripts, change the prepared cast, or bypass limits using a personal API key. Group voice allowances apply in addition to individual allowances; educators cannot increase them. Revocation blocks further server access, but cannot recall audio or text already downloaded.

Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled before the renewal date. You may cancel at any time through the available account controls or by contacting us if self-service cancellation is not available. Refunds are handled in accordance with applicable law and the terms shown at checkout.

You retain full ownership of any scripts, text, or other content you provide to the Service (“Your Content”). We claim no intellectual property rights over Your Content.

By using the Service, you grant us a limited license to process Your Content solely for the purpose of providing the Service to you — for example, parsing scripts, generating speech, performing AI cleanup when requested, and hosting and displaying takes you choose to share.

We do not use Your Content to train AI models. We do not sell, share, or distribute Your Content to third parties except as necessary to provide the Service (e.g., sending text to ElevenLabs for voice generation), or when you choose to publish a shared take. Only share scripts and recordings you have the right to share, including any necessary permissions from other people recorded.

Eligible users, including approved private-access users, may connect their own ElevenLabs API key for custom voices and additional languages. When you connect your key:

• Your key is encrypted at rest and never exposed after initial submission.
• Voice generation requests are sent directly to your ElevenLabs account and billed by ElevenLabs, not by us.
• You are responsible for your ElevenLabs account, usage, and billing.
• BYOK usage is governed by your ElevenLabs plan, limits, and terms.
• We are not liable for charges incurred on your ElevenLabs account.
• You may disconnect your key through the available account controls or by contacting support.

You must ensure you have the right to use any voices in your ElevenLabs library, including cloned voices. Using a cloned voice without the voice owner’s consent may violate applicable law.

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose.
• Generate content that is hateful, threatening, or promotes violence.
• Misrepresent AI-generated audio as a real human performance in contexts where disclosure is required.
• Attempt to circumvent usage caps, trial limits, or security measures.
• Use the Service to clone voices without proper authorisation.
• Resell, sublicense, or redistribute the Service or its output without permission.

The Service uses AI for voice generation, speech recognition, script cleanup, and photo OCR. You acknowledge that:

• AI-generated voices are synthetic and may not perfectly replicate human speech.
• Speech recognition (via the Web Speech API) runs through your browser and may produce inaccurate transcriptions. Browser support and processing behaviour can vary.
• AI script cleanup may alter your text. Always review the output.
• AI systems may produce unexpected results. The Service is a rehearsal tool, not a substitute for professional judgement.

Scripts and scenes are stored on our servers, scoped to your account. They are not public unless you choose to include them in a shared take.

Audio files generated during rehearsal are cached locally in your browser (IndexedDB). They are not automatically uploaded back to Oteria, but may be included in a take you choose to share.

Speech recognition uses the Web Speech API through your browser and may send audio to its recognition provider. Oteria uses the recognition result to match your spoken line to the script.

Take recordings: With Record performance enabled and microphone permission granted, supported browsers record your voice together with the scene partner. Completed takes are saved in this browser and can be downloaded as an MP3. They do not sync between devices or upload automatically. Download any take you want to keep, as clearing browser data or browser storage cleanup can remove it. For scenes with sharing available, choosing Share uploads the take and its script, cast details and duration. Anyone with the link can listen and read the shared script, without signing in. Project and assigned-scene recordings can be downloaded locally, but cannot be published through Share. Shared takes have no automatic expiry. Contact privacy@oteria.app to request removal; copies retained by recipients cannot be recalled.

BYOK keys are encrypted at rest using server-side encryption. They are decrypted to authenticate voice-library and generation requests to ElevenLabs, and are not returned to the browser after submission.

Authentication uses email and password or Google. We store your name and email address, and a salted password hash if you set an Oteria password. We never store plain-text passwords or receive your Google password.

We do not use your data to train AI models. We do not sell your data. We may collect account-linked generation usage to enforce allowances and prevent abuse, and use aggregated totals to improve the Service. See the Privacy Policy for details.

The Service, its design, code, and branding are owned by Graybridge Labs. You may not copy, modify, or create derivative works of the Service.

AI-generated audio produced through the Service is subject to the terms of the underlying voice provider (ElevenLabs). You are responsible for ensuring your use of generated audio complies with their terms and applicable law.

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components.

We are not responsible for the content of scripts you upload or the output generated by AI voices. You are solely responsible for how you use generated content.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claims arising from your use of the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim.

We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including lost profits, data loss, or charges incurred on third-party accounts (including ElevenLabs).

Temporary private access may be withdrawn as described in section 4. Withdrawal of private access does not itself delete your account or data; our Privacy Policy explains data retention and deletion requests.

You may request account deletion at any time by contacting us, or by using self-service account controls where available. We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these terms, with notice where practicable.

On termination, your scripts and scene data will be deleted. Audio cached in your browser remains on your device until you clear it.

We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via the Service or email. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.

These terms are governed by the laws applicable in the place where Graybridge Labs is established, except where mandatory consumer protection laws in your location require otherwise.
