Rehearse in Any Language: How BYOK Unlocks Global Scene Work

Acting is universal. The craft of building a character, learning lines, and finding truth in a scene doesn't change whether the script is in English, Spanish, Korean, or Arabic. But most digital rehearsal tools assume you work in English. We think that's a problem worth solving.

The curated library

Oteria ships with 50+ curated voice archetypes — warm mentors, sharp professionals, edgy teens, commanding authority figures, and everything in between. Each voice has been hand-selected for acting range and cast across American, British, and Australian accents. For English-language scene work, you can cast a full table read straight out of the box.

Beyond English: bring your own key

For actors working in other languages, Oteria supports a bring-your-own-key model. Connect your personal ElevenLabs account and you can use the library available on your plan — over 1,000 voices across 30+ languages including Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Japanese, Korean, Hindi, Arabic, and many more.

This isn't a workaround. It's a first-class feature. Your ElevenLabs voices appear alongside the curated library in the casting panel. You assign them to characters, adjust their speed, and run the scene exactly the same way. The rehearsal experience is identical regardless of language.

Why this matters for actors

International casting is growing. Streaming platforms commission content in dozens of languages. Bilingual actors juggle scripts in two or three languages at once. And actors everywhere — from drama schools in Seoul to theater companies in Buenos Aires — deserve a rehearsal tool that speaks their language.

The bring-your-own-key model also puts you in control of costs. You use your own ElevenLabs account, your own credits, your own voice library, and your own plan limits. There's no markup and no gatekeeper. If ElevenLabs adds a new language or a new voice tomorrow, you can use it when it is available on your account.

How to set it up

Setup is intentionally simple. Create an ElevenLabs account if you don't have one. Copy your API key from the ElevenLabs dashboard. Paste it into Oteria's BYOK settings once available. Your voice library then appears in the casting panel next time you set up a scene.

From there, it's the same workflow. Paste your script in any language. Assign voices to characters. Hit play. Oteria handles the rest — turn-taking, audio direction tags, the listening orb, everything. The only difference is the language coming out of the speakers.

One tool, every stage

We built Oteria as a scene partner that's always available, always prepared, and never drops a cue. The bring-your-own-key model extends that promise to actors everywhere, in every language. Whether you're preparing a self-tape in English, rehearsing a French play, or running a Korean drama table read, the rehearsal room is open.
